Sugar Drop bakery is a real treat
Step inside the new Sugar Drop and enjoy the scent of fresh cakes and cookies, sweet treats and sugary surprises. While you’re there, meet Sugar Drop’s Brooke O’Dell, an expert baker and award-winning cake decorator. Along with an army of friends, Brooke transformed the old Sugar Drop — a rather fusty cake supply and wedding dress store – into Brentwood’s beautiful boutique bakery, a place not only to order delicious desserts for your private party (Sugar Drop baked for 28 events in its first four months alone), but a place to decorate your own creations.
“We call it our Sugar Drop Event Space,” Brooke says, referring to the large table for parties of 8-12. “The young and young at heart have fun with cake and cupcake decorating.”
Monday and Wednesday afternoons feature cake and cooking classes through the end of July. There’s also culinary camp for kids. For four days, campers enjoy popcorn and cotton candy cocktails while learning to sculpt fondant and pipe out shapes with a buttercream bag.
“I love all our events,” Brooke confides, “but my favorite is Stop, Drop, Decorate.”
This is a do-it-yourself cake decorating invitation for Tuesdays and Fridays where, for only $35, participants receive everything they need: a freshly baked cake, a bag of buttercream, a tub of fondant, and the tools and sprinkles to bring their edible art to life.
